MARY MYERS

Profile

Mary Myers worked with a Hopi mentor and teacher, Charles Loloma from 1974 to 1990, learning about Hopi principles of art, philosophy, and spiritual practice.

Her initial training in core shamanism, was through workshops offered by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies in the early ‘90’s. The Foundation is based on the work of anthropologist and spiritual teacher, Michael Harner.

She has had a shamanic practice since 1994, and presently works in community with a group of practitioners of many different shamanic backgrounds.

Between 1995 and 2000, Myers embarked on an extended retreat in the isolation of the Sonoran desert. During this time she worked intensively with the spirits of the land, whom she considers to be her principal teachers. She also designed and built her own straw bale home and studio in a natural sacred site within this area.

In November of 2000 Myers attended one of the first Medicine for the Earth (MTFE) workshops offered by Sandra Ingerman. The work resonated with her own beliefs and experience, and when Ingerman offered to train some 50 people from around the world to teach Medicine for the Earth, Myers signed up immediately.
